Chihuahua Potty-Training
Chihuahuas are known for having a stubborn personality which makes them difficult to potty-train. However, following these steps should help them become successfully potty-trained. Start your potty-training routine the first day you get your Chihuahua by taking them outside to the spot and speaking a command, such as "go potty", and when they do it, give them a treat. Theres no getting around it, accidents will happen. When your Chihuahua has an accident, refrain from hitting, sticking their nose in it, or even yelling at them. Doing so can have a negative effect on their training. Just say "No", or "Bad", and take them back outside, even if they don't do anything. The best way to avoid accidents is to keep an eye on your Chihuahua as much as you can, and confine them in a crate at night and when you go to work. Your Chihuahua shouldn't go potty in their crate since they have to sleep in it. Just remember to take them outside as soon as you wake up or get back. |
