Grooming Needs of a Yorkie
If you want to own a Yorkie, be prepared to spend time grooming them. Yorkies stand out with their long, shiney coats. However, keeping them looking that way requires daily grooming. You will need to buy a soft comb, and comb through your Yorkies coat daily. This will keep it untangles, and clump-free. Don't use a hard brush, it can be painful on your Yorkies delicate skin. About once a week or two, you should give your Yorkie a nice bath. Use a small amount of shampoo with warm water and give your Yorkie a nice cleaning. Be careful not to get any water or shampoo in your Yorkies eyes. Some people like to bath them in the kitchen sink since you can get eye-level with your Yorkie. Yorkies will also need to have their nails clipped. Don't use your clippers, find some dog nail clippers from the pet store. You will still need to take your Yorkie to get professionally groomed on a regular basis. They have the tools to clip their hair correctly. |
