Chihuahuas have exploded in popularity from being in movies, fast food commercials, and being toted along by celebrities. However, few people really know this dog breed. Chihuahuas originitated in the state of (you guessed it) Chihuahua, Mexico in 1850. There is much speculation as to the past of this dog breed. Some people think Chihuahuas were once worshipped as a diety. There are alot of competing small dog breeds, but the Chihuahua is the smallest in the entire world. Many people want to own them for this simple reason. However, being small also means they get injured easily. It's all too common for small children to step on and injure them. Chihuahuas can make a great watchdog for anyone looking for a little extra security in their home or living complex. They are known to be brave, loud, and full spirit. But, you should keep your Chihuahua away from larger dogs to avoid potential fights. Chihuahuas are known to live fifteen to twenty years. That's why it's important to keep your Chihuahua healthy by giving them the proper exercise, and taking them to the Veternarian for their vaccines and checkups.
