The Tiny Chihuahua

Chihuahuas are a unique dog breed with lots of interesting characteristics. This article will help you understand this tiny dog.

The Chihuahua is named after the state of Chihuahua, Mexico where it originated from.

I'm sure you've seen alot of small dog breeds. Well, the Chihuahua is the smallest in the world, usually weighing 2 to 12 pounds. If you've ever owned a Chihuahua, you know they don't act like the smallest. Chihuahuas like to bark aggresively at animals and even objects much larger than they are. This makes them great for someone looking for a good watchdog to be alert. However, it also means you need to watch your Chihuahua around larger dogs. You don't want you Chihuahua to pick a fight with a big dog.

There are alot of terms such as teacup, or toy Chihuahua. These terms are not recognized by any orginizations as Chihuahua breeds. The only different Chihuahua breeds are long-haired, and short-haired. Other terms are used for the purpose of luring potential buyers into thinking they got a Chihuahua more valuable.

Chihuahuas are smart animals, but often they can be difficult to potty-train. If you plan on getting a Chihuahua, be sure to also purchase a crate for your Chihuahua to sleep in at night. Keeping your Chihuahua in a crate at night is a good way to keep them from having accidents at night. Most of the time Chihuahuas wont go potty where they have to sleep. Just be sure to take your Chihuahua out when you first wake up.

It's easy to forget about taking your Chihuahua outside for exercise if you live in an apartment, or you are busy with other activities. Chihuahuas need exercise and should be taken outside to run around and play every day. This will also help keep your Chihuahua fit and healthy.

It is important to make sure your Chihuahua is healthy. Healthy Chihuahuas can live over 15 years. Be sure to give your Chihuahua the needed exercise, and take them to the Veternarian for their shots, vaccines, and regular checkups. Let's keep our Chihuahuas healthy!

I hope this article helps you understand this amazing dog breed.
